Friends Annual Drink Party 2023

On Thursday 23rd February, we welcomed Friends, Trustees, Business Club members and Fundholders to our Annual Friend’s Drinks Party, hosted by Jane Trahair, Trustee of CCF, and Kim Conchie DL FRSA, Chair of CCF.  Jane and Kim began the evening with a special thanks to CCF fundholders Sam and Kitty Galsworthy for generously welcoming us to their beautiful Georgian home, Trewithen Estate. Our guests enjoyed a wonderful evening of impactful conversation over drinks and canapes.

Jane Trahair thanked guests for attending before outlining how important our Friends and other supporters are to the community of Cornwall. She said “Thank you to each and every one of you for being here today, and for your ongoing support of the foundation. Your donations are critical to help fund services and organisations, such as The Oasis Centre, making a significant difference to real lives here in Cornwall.”

The Oasis Centre, in St Eval, runs wellbeing cafes, lunch clubs, home visiting services, and a wide range of community activities. The centre is for everyone, but in particular they seek to help those who are feeling lonely and isolated, or who are housebound.  CCF have been supporting the Oasis Centre since 2011 and have awarded over £110,00 in grants to them over the years. Sam Galsworthy, Vice Chair of CCF and Founder of Sipsmith Gin Distillery, shared a documentary style video of his visit to the Oasis Centre where he chatted to the volunteers as well as the visitors who, in turn, described the positive impact the CCF grants have had for them, their loved ones and their wider community.

Sam was then joined by Paul Johns, Chair of The Oasis Centre, who detailed the current issues they are experiencing and thanked CCF for the grants and ongoing support.

Kim Conchie DL FRSA said “I cannot thank our CCF Friends and supporters enough, the impact your donations have made to communities in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly is truly incredible. In 2022, thanks to your support we were able to invest £2,363,926, supporting projects across the duchy, which helped 24,621 vulnerable people and families. We are in a time of need and the grants we are able to deliver, because of your continued support, are changing lives.”

A special thanks to Navas Drinks for providing delicious Cornish tonic water for our guests to enjoy throughout the evening.
