CCF Business Club members present cheque to Mylor Pre-school
Roger Graffy of Mylor Yacht Harbour and Lee Williams and Emily Felton of Colas Ltd, members of the CCF Business Club visited Mylor Pre-school to present a cheque for £2,500. The grant enabled the group to fit new windows to the Schoolroom.
Roger Graffy says, “It was great to see the Pre-school in action, to learn more about their plans and talk to some of the volunteers and staff that make it all possible. The children were really engaged in their activities and clearly enjoying the range of activities provided by the staff.”
The Pre-school moved to its current site at the Methodist Schoolroom in the centre of Mylor village in 2003. The Schoolroom is adjacent to Mylor Bridge CPP School. Vice-Chair of the voluntary Committee, Lisa Beverley-Jones, comments, “We were thrilled to be awarded the grant from the CCF Business Club. It enables us to fit new, double glazed windows maximising light, retaining warmth and improving our energy efficiency. Without the grant this would not be possible.”
Since its inception ten years ago the Business Club has awarded more than £300,000 to small voluntary groups and charities across Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly. At its recent Grant Panel meeting in October, the Business Club awarded a further £17,500 to community projects.
Lee Williams of Colas Ltd comments, “As members of the CCF Business Club, we are delighted to see how the money we donate for community projects is used. Mylor Pre-school is a brilliant example of volunteers getting together to provide a service much needed by the community in which they live.”
