CCF Business Club planning for the future

In 2008 a group of far-sighted businesses came together to create a fund into which members could pay an annual subscription to be used to support communities that need help in Cornwall.  Most of the founding businesses continue to be members of the CCF Business Club today, including:  Coodes Solicitors, Robinson Reed & Layton, Roddas, St Austell Brewery, Stephens Scown, The Nare Hotel and Tregothnan.

Since the fund started, grants totalling £316,000 have been awarded 176 community projects spread right across Cornwall.  A staggering 83,100 beneficiaries have been supported by that grant funding.  The Business Club has always been keen to encourage applicants to raise their own funding alongside their CCF grant and this has resulted in an additional £502,000 of community investment.

Development Director, Jeremy Ward, says, “Business Club members can be rightly proud of what has been achieved through the Club. We know from the feedback from groups just how important these carefully targeted grants are. It’s also encouraging to see that the Business Club grants have leveraged more than £500,000 of additional community funding.”

Currently the fund supports projects that improve community spaces, encourage businesses and communities to work together, and support children and young people. Since the Club started 60% of grants have supported improvements to community halls and outside areas.

On 13 September at 10:45am, members of the CCF Business Club are meeting for a Grants Workshop at the Headland Hotel, Newquay. They will review in detail past grant awarding and consider whether the current grant criteria matches future community needs.
