Business Club meets with everything but the breakfast

Our last members’ breakfast was held on 6 March when we enjoyed the wonderful hospitality of the Headland Hotel, Newquay. Within a matter of days we were locked down and we had to postpone Business Club grant-making to focus on the Cornwall Emergency Fund. But we’re delighted to up and running again, albeit with a virtual breakfast on 11 September.

We enjoyed a mix of networking, updates and two moving presentations. The first by video by Monique Collins from the Drop In And Share Centre in Newquay (click here to watch the video) and in person by Simon Fann manager of Truro Foodbank. Both speakers painted a picture of increasing demand and new people being drawn into hardship.  Simon described how his foodbank has asked for food boxes designed to be suitable for increasing number of people living in cars.

Thanks to the generosity of our members, some of whom have increased their donations to reflect current circumstances, we are holding our first Business Club grant panel of 2020 on 18 November  to award grants. We’re delighted also to welcome Lucy Orr Interiors as a new member. It’s heart-warming that businesses are still committed to supporting their local communities in these challenging times.
